A furnished sublet in Chelsea: a whole one-bedroom, by the month
If you are hunting for a sublet in Manhattan, you already know the problem. Most of what comes up is a room in somebody else’s apartment, or a summer-only listing, or gone by the time you send the message. This is a whole one-bedroom in Chelsea, furnished and available by the month, and it is ours: you rent it directly from the two of us who own it, not from a tenant passing on a lease. One month minimum, no broker fee, no guarantor, and no year to sign.

What you get, and for how long
A whole one-bedroom apartment on a quiet Chelsea block. A chef’s kitchen with a Wolf oven, a king bed, two proper workspaces with gigabit WiFi and a large monitor, laundry in the building, and a shared garden and patio. Linens, towels and everything in the kitchen are already here, so you arrive with a suitcase and nothing else.
One month is the minimum and most people stay between one and three. If your plans stretch, tell us early and we will usually keep the calendar open. It sleeps two and it is not a share: nobody else has a key.
Why sublet hunting in New York is so grim
The supply is thin and it moves fast. Good sublets go to whoever messages first, which means checking Facebook groups and Craigslist several times a day for weeks. A lot of what is left is a room rather than an apartment, or available only from the first of a month you cannot use, or priced as though furnished were a luxury rather than the whole point.
And then there are the listings that are not real. If somebody wants a deposit wired before you have seen the place or met them, walk away. It is the single most common way people lose money looking for a short let in this city.
How you know this one is real
We own the apartment. You are dealing with Pari and Moshik rather than an agency or a tenant passing it on, and the agreement has our names on it. The same apartment is on Airbnb with its reviews attached, so you can read what people who have actually stayed here wrote before you commit to anything.
Booking directly rather than through Airbnb means you are not paying the guest service fee, which over a month or more is a meaningful amount. Same calendar, same availability, lower total.
Chelsea, practically
The A, C and E at 14th Street and the 1 at 18th get you most places in Manhattan quickly, and the L crosses to Brooklyn without a change. Chelsea Market is five minutes on foot, the High Line runs past the end of the block, and the West Village and Union Square are both walkable.
It is a residential street rather than a nightlife one. The walls are thin and sound carries between apartments, so we ask people to keep things low after ten, and no parties. If you want somewhere to sleep, cook and work between long days, it suits. If you want to host, it does not.
How to take it
Ask for your dates on the Chelsea Home page and we will answer ourselves, usually the same day. There is no application, no broker, no guarantor and no income test. We will want to know who is staying and roughly why, the way anybody would before handing over their keys.
If your employer is paying, say so and we will invoice the company directly rather than making you expense it.
Questions people ask when they are hunting for a sublet
- Is this a whole apartment, or a room?
- A whole one-bedroom apartment to yourself. Nobody else has a key, and it is not offered as a room in a share. It sleeps two.
- What is the shortest I can take it for?
- One month. Most people stay between one and three months, and longer is fine. Ask a few weeks ahead if you think you will want to extend.
- Do I need a guarantor, a broker or proof of income?
- None of the three. There is no broker fee, no guarantor and no income test. You ask for the dates, we agree them, and you pay us.
- Is it actually furnished?
- Fully. A chef’s kitchen with a Wolf oven, a king bed, linens and towels, two workspaces with gigabit WiFi and a large monitor, laundry in the building and a shared garden. Bring a suitcase.
- How do I know the listing is real?
- We own the apartment and the same one is listed on Airbnb with its reviews, so you can read what previous guests said before you commit. We will never ask you to wire a deposit to hold a place you have not seen.
- Can I see it before I commit?
- If you are in New York, yes. If you are not yet, we will walk you through it on a video call, which is how most of our longer-stay guests have seen it first.
- Who am I renting from?
- From us, Pari and Moshik, the owners. It is not a tenant passing on their own lease and not an agency. You message us directly and we answer ourselves.
- Is there a deposit?
- 20% of the total, at least $500, holds your dates, and it is refunded if you cancel 45 days or more before you arrive. The rest is paid shortly before check-in. Nothing is charged until we have said yes to your dates.
- Can I extend my stay?
- Usually, if the calendar is free after your dates. Tell us as early as you can: the apartment is booked months ahead, and the weeks after yours can be taken by someone else.
- Are pets allowed?
- No pets, unfortunately. The building does not permit them.
