A furnished apartment in Chelsea, New York, by the month
Arriving in New York with a job to start and no lease yet is a particular kind of stressful. Chelsea Home is our own one-bedroom in the middle of Chelsea, let for a month at a time and booked directly with us. It has the things a temporary apartment usually lacks: a kitchen you would actually cook in, a desk with a large monitor and gigabit internet, and owners who answer.

Who this home suits
- Starting a job in Manhattan before you have found a lease
- Relocating and wanting to try a neighborhood before committing
- A month or two of work in the city with a real place to come home to
- A couple, or one person who wants space, not a studio
- Anyone who works from home and needs a proper desk and a big screen
- Dog owners, within the house rules
What furnished means here
The apartment is fully equipped and recently renovated for extended stays rather than weekends. The kitchen has a Wolf oven, a new refrigerator, a dishwasher and an espresso machine, with a dining table that expands to seat six. The bedroom has a king bed. Lights, air conditioning and shades are voice-controlled, there is a smart television, a sound system and a record player, and a garden patio with a barbecue grill.
Work is taken seriously: two workspaces, a large monitor, a printer and 1 Gbps WiFi. The building has laundry and a gym you can use at no charge. You have the whole apartment except one small closet we keep for ourselves.
A month in Chelsea
Chelsea is Manhattan’s gallery district, anchored by the High Line, with Chelsea Market a five-minute walk away and the West Village ten. It is the kind of neighborhood where a month is enough to have a coffee place, a grocer and a running route, which is most of what makes a temporary address feel like an address.
Getting anywhere else is easy: the A, C and 1 subway lines are a very short walk, Union Square is about twelve minutes away, Times Square and Broadway fifteen, Central Park twenty, and the Financial District under twenty. If the new job is anywhere in Manhattan, the commute will be short.
How booking a monthly stay works
Chelsea Home is let for stays of 28 nights or longer. You book on the Chelsea Home page on this site, directly with us. It is the same calendar as our Airbnb listing, so availability is identical, but booking here means you are not paying the Airbnb guest service fee on a month-long stay. Rates for your dates show in the calendar before you commit.
Before you arrive you get a house manual with everything from the WiFi to how the shades work, and during the stay you have the owners by phone and message. If your plans change and you need another month, ask early; the calendar fills.
Good to know before you ask
Dogs are accepted under the same terms as our Airbnb listing, and because of that we cannot promise the apartment is entirely free of dog hair. One small closet is off-limits. Stays are a minimum of 28 nights.
Questions people ask before a longer stay
- What is the minimum stay?
- Twenty-eight nights. Chelsea Home is let by the month, and guests typically stay a month or more while they settle into New York.
- What does furnished include?
- A fully equipped chef’s kitchen with a Wolf oven, dishwasher and espresso machine; a king bed; linens and towels; a smart television, sound system and record player; voice-controlled lights, air conditioning and shades; two workspaces with a large monitor and printer; 1 Gbps WiFi; and access to the building’s laundry and gym.
- Can I work from the apartment?
- Yes. There are two workspaces, a large monitor, a printer and gigabit WiFi. It is set up for full days of work, not a laptop on the sofa.
- How do I book directly, and why would I?
- Book on the Chelsea Home page on pamperhomes.com. It uses the same calendar as our Airbnb listing, so the availability is the same, but you are booking with the owners and not paying the Airbnb guest service fee, which on a monthly stay adds up.
- What are check-in and check-out times?
- The exact times, the address and how to get into the building are in your booking confirmation and the house manual we send before you arrive.
- Are dogs allowed?
- Dogs are accepted under the same policy as our Airbnb listing. Because dogs have stayed, we cannot guarantee the apartment is entirely free of dog hair.
